The 78th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, this year is starkly different from years past as Russian aggression in Ukraine plays out. Today, Victory Day has been overshadowed by the Russian invasion and acts of inhumanity that remind us too well of what we celebrate each year on this day.
This annual celebration has been twofold – both to commemorate the efforts and victory, but also to educate each new generation about the evils that fascism brought to millions of people so that it is not forgotten and never repeated. Apparently, not enough has been done to completely eradicate fascism in the world today.
