ISRAEL PLOTKIN

Born on June 19, 1924 in Moscow, Russia.
Served in the army from 1942 until 1948.
Plotkin fought in the 89th special flamethrower battalion on the 2nd Byelorussian Front. He took part in battles on the territory of Byelorussia (the boosting of the Trut and Berezina Rivers and the liberation of Rogachev and Bobruisk). He boosted the Visla River on the territory of Poland. In East Prussia, he took part on the assault and the taking of Koenigsberg. Plotkin fought on the Oder Lake in Germany.
He was awarded medals “For Valor”, “For the taking of Koenigsberg”, and “For Victory over Germany”.

Воевал в составе 89-го отдельного огнеметного батальона на 2-м Белорусском фронте. Участвовал в боях на территории Белоруссии (форсирование р.р. Труть, Березина - освобождение Рогачева и Бобруйска). На территории Польши форсировал р. Висла. В Восточной Пруссии участвовал в штурме и взятии Кенигсберга. Сражался на р. Одер в Германии.
Награжден медалями «За отвагу», «За взятие Кенигсберга», «За победу над Германией».
