MARIYA DOROFEEVA
May 13, 1926
Born May 13, 1926 in the village of Yang-Ozero in Kareliy, Russia.
Served in the army from 1941 (voluntarily since she was 15) until 1945.
Dorofeeva fought on the Karelian sector of the Front. Since she knew the Finnish language, she took part in reconnaissance operations within the ranks of the Finnish parts. She was part of the battle movements near Yelets on the Orlov-Kursk bridgehead on the territory of Ukraine in the 157th border regiment. Dorofeeva took part in battles in Poland and Germany. Her subdivision meet with Americans on the Elba River.
She was awarded an order of the second degree of the Patriotic War and a medal “For Victory over Germany”.
МАРИЯ ДАНИЛОВНА ДОРОФЕЕВА (ШЕРМАН)
Родилась 13 мая 1926 г. в дер. Янг-Озеро в Карелии, Россия.
В армии с 1941 (добровольно с 15 лет) по 1945 г.г.
Воевала на Карельском участке фронта. Как знающая финский язык, участвовала в разведывательных операциях в расположении финских частей. Принимала участие в боевых действиях под г. Елец, на Орловско-Курском плацдарме, на территории Украины в составе 157-го пограничного полка. Участвовала в боях в Польше и Германии. Подразделение, где служила Дорофеева, встретилось с американцами на р. Эльба.
Награждена орденом Отечественной войны II степени; медалью «За победу над Германией».
