SHAKHNO GELLER

Born on May 29, 1923 in the city of Pogrebische in the Vinnitsa Region, Ukraine.
Served in the army from August 9, 1941 until January 1944.
Geller fought in the 287th Warsaw order of Kutuzov artillery regiment of the 143rd Konotopsko - Korosten’ Red Banner order of the Suvorov’s division of the 13th Army (defensive actions in Orel Region - Bryansk Front). From January 1943, he took part in battles in the 13th (40th) Army. He fought in the Kursk offensive and in battles for the liberation of Konotop (Ukraine) in the 60th Army. On September 7, 1943 he was heavily injured and contused.
He was awarded two orders of the first degree of the Patriotic War and a medal “For Victory over Germany”.

Родился 29 мая 1923 г. в г. Погребище Винницкой области, Украина.
В армии с 9 августа 1941 г. по январь 1944 г.
Воевал в составе 287-го Варшавского ордена Кутузова артиллерийского полка 143-й Конотопско-Коростеньской Краснознаменной ордена Суворова дивизии 13-й армии (оборонительные бои в Орловской области - Брянский фронт). С января 1943 г. участник наступательных боев в составе 13-й (40-й) армии. Участник Курской битвы и боев за освобождение Конотопа (Украина) в составе 60-й армии. 7 сентября 1943 г. был тяжело ранен и контужен.
Награжден двумя орденами Отечественной войны I степени, медалью "За победу над Германией".
