In 1941, at the age if 18, he was drafted into the Soviet Army and sent to the city of Omsk in Siberia for military training. Upon completion, his regiment was sent straight into the hell-fire of Stalingrad.
He crossed Europe from Stalingrad to Koenigsberg, where he was seriously wounded and ended up celebrating the Victory in the hospital.
Awarded with numerous medals,
Yefim Shutyy finished the war in the rank of Major. He continued on his higher education in Kalinin Military Academy, having served in Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine before retiring a Colonel to his native Kiev along with his wife Yekaterina and two daughters. In 1993, the family immigrated to Los Angeles and in 1995, Yefim and his wife Yekaterina proudly marched in the 50th Anniversary of the Victory Day Parade.

В июле 1941-го, в 18 лет был призван в армию и отправлен в г.Омск в военное училище. После окончания - в пекло Сталинграда.
Прошёл путь от Сталинграда до Кёнигсберга, где в феврале 1945-го получил тяжелое ранение и Победу встречал уже в госпитале.
Награждён множеством орденов и медалей, закончил войну в чине майора.
Он продолжил своё высшее образование в военной академии г. Калинина. Служил в Армении, Грузии и на Украине, демобилизовавшись в свой родной Киев вместе с женой Екатериной и двумя дочерьми.
В 1993 году семья эмигрировала в Лос-Анджелес, где в 1995 г. Ефим и его жена Екатерина с гордостью участвовали в Параде ветеранов, посвящённому 50-ти летней годовщине Великой Победы.
